Saturday night livecurrent season will look a little different when she returns in the new year, as longtime actor Cecily Strong announced her final show during the sketch comedy’s final episode for 2022. She previously spoke about her preference sl moments of her own, and she also revealed the classic ’90s sketch that was a staple for her talent show performances as a child.
Cecily Strong was a big presence at sl for 10 years, but his love for long-running variety series started at an early age. as revealed to DAYwho spoke to several cast members about the show’s 48th season his favorite classic sketches, Strong admitted that he knew from a young age that he wanted to be in it sl, so her all-time favorites are too numerous to count. However, she did share that she would recreate “Bill Swerski’s Superfans” sketches for talent shows, sharing her special love for a fan favorite cast member. In her words:
I don’t know if there’s a skit I’ve seen that made me think, ‘Now I want to be on the show’, because I wanted to be on the show as soon as I found out there was a show, which must have been pretty young, because I know that i was 5 or 6 when i tricked my babysitter into thinking my parents absolutely let me stay up late on saturday nights to pick him up. I definitely recreated “Bill Swerski’s Superfans” sketches for talent shows. He probably mimicked Mike Myers characters and sketches quite often. I’m sure I’ve had a bad impression of every SNL character at some point in my life.
sl Having such a strong impact on Cecily Strong in her youth is probably an indication that the series will always have a special place in her heart for all the years following its surprising release. But the real question now is whether there are any compilation videos from these talent shows that show her performing the 90s skit with Joe Mantegna (as Bill Swerski himself), Chris Farley (as Todd O’Connor), Robert Smigel as Carl Wollarski and Mike Myers as Pat Arnold.
While Strong didn’t mention which of the characters he played during those talent show years, he also discussed his penchant for impersonating fellow veteran Mike Myers, so it’s safe to assume he doesn’t. Check out one of Superfans most famous sketches, featuring Health legend George Wendt is changed to Joe Mantegna.
At over 30 years old, this skit is a reminder of bygone days for show business and pop culture in general. One can only imagine what current-era sketches would play at elementary school talent shows these days.
Cecily Strong is none other than the last exit in sl , after several outings at the start of the season. While the series has always featured a rotating cast whose stars tend to cut ties after reaching certain levels of fame, it’s still hard not to miss those who leave. Strong is unlikely to be fully replaced midway through Season 48, but we can probably expect some new blood for Season 49.
Meanwhile, with his game and being part of the Schmidadon! problem on Apple TV+, Cecily Strong is quite busy after-sl. It’s unclear what other projects she’ll take on in the future, but it wouldn’t be surprising if she lands the role in another series or movie soon. Since she was already absent from a few episodes of Season 48 due to her stage work, fans may have gotten a bit used to her episodes without her. Luckily, fans can rewatch their episodes of sl Up Peacock with a subscription bring their best characters back to life.
sl It is currently on hiatus for the holidays but will return to NBC on Saturday, January 21 for the first show of 2023 and the first episode without Cecily Strong.
