Light spoilers for Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery are ahead, so read at your own risk.
With the release of glass onion, writer/director Rian Johnson is now a two-for-two when it comes to his entertaining crime film series. the knives out the sequel received critical acclaim for a plethora of reasons thus far, with many noting the cast’s lively humor and flawless performances. There is also the cutting social commentary, which was also present in the film’s 2019 predecessor. ”.
glass onion features various characters that reflect specific figures within our society, especially when it comes to Miles Bron, who was played perfectly by Edward Norton. Bron is established as a tech mogul and a bit of an eccentric, leading many viewers to compare him to Elon Musk. The SpaceX founder has been in the news a lot lately due to his costly acquisition of Twitter . Also, many continue to pay attention to Musk’s somewhat “unusual” social media posts. In Netflix’s mystery film, Bron also has his quirks, like his tendency to use made-up words.
Considering all of the above information, it would be easy to think that Rian Johnson was directly observing Elon Musk’s mannerisms during Bron’s development. However, as the experienced director explained wiring This couldn’t be further from the truth:
There are a lot of general things about this type of tech billionaire that have fallen on him. But obviously he has almost bizarre relevance right now. A friend of mine said, “Dude, it looks like they wrote that this afternoon.” And it’s kind of a horrible, horrible accident, you know?

Although the director describes the whole situation as an “accident”, he applauds it. Because it’s further proof that he’s naturally in tune with the spirit of pop culture and society at large in a way that only some of his peers are.
glass onion it’s definitely full of twists and turns and includes some great cameos and names . What struck me most, however, was how accurately (and outrageously) he portrayed our social climate. As mentioned, specific archetypes are brought out through characters, such as those of reunited stars Kate Hudson and Kathryn Hahn . One plays a politically incorrect fashion mogul, while the other plays a ruthless politician. Though in real life, he still doesn’t think he’s met anyone like Daniel Craig’s gorgeous Benoit Blanc.
Rian Johnson is currently difficult work the third knives out movie , and I can’t wait to see what they come up with. It wouldn’t be at all surprising if the film, like its predecessor, featured a character who unknowingly mirrored an important person. If that were to happen, Johnson could go back to calling it a “horrible accident.” But I prefer to call it a wonderful coincidence, which should improve the film.
