Miley Cyrus Fans Celebrate Her As New Year’s Queen After A+ Dolly Parton Duos, Pole Dance Encore & More

For the second year in a row, pop star and pop culture icon Miley Cyrus has brought her love of acting, partying and A+ duets to NBC for Miley’s New Year’s Eve party, who closed out the year in a way that really sent fans into orbit. The December 31st special, which was hands down the best of the New Year’s program 2022-2023 fortunately avoided locker room malfunction who rocked last year’s show and entertained the masses with appearances by Nashville legend Dolly Parton, pop star Fletcher, a certain wrecking ball, and more.

Miley Cyrus fans, of course, enjoyed every second of the special from start to finish and sang the cheerleader’s praises on social media before, during, and after the show’s performances. Let’s quickly go through a list of posts promoting Miley, starting with one of the highest forms of praise to be found. (Though she certainly wasn’t the only one praising all the superlatives.)

Dolly Parton and Miley Cyrus have crafted not just one song for NBC’s New Year’s special, but a handful of major hits, albeit in mixed form. The pair performed “Wrecking Ball,” more on that in a second, “I Will Always Love You,” “Jolene,” and Joan Jett’s “I Love Rock ‘N’ Roll.” And as many viewers would likely agree, it’s never surprising to see two generations of icons cover their own tracks.

Now that we’ve conjured one of Miley Cyrus’ most iconic images through all the wrecking balls (like giant disco balls), now seems like the best time to say goodbye. Hanna Montana Experience a slowly building standing ovation for the New Year’s special’s low-key encore at her infamous performance at the 2009 Teen Choice Awards, using the mic stand for some pole dancing.

The moment was noticed and celebrated by many, and this fan summed up many people’s thoughts by talking about how easily it happened without much fanfare. (However, I wouldn’t refuse to see his foam finger come back.)

Miley Cyrus also took to the stage with former Talking Heads frontman David Byrne for a rendition of David Bowie’s “Let’s Dance” that no doubt left more than a few fans puzzled as to what they were seeing. But for those who were interested, there was nothing they didn’t like.

What made things a little more confusing was the fact that this was the performance where Cyrus decided to bring out her Wednesday Addams dancing skills. Again, a very strange sight for those who haven’t seen the Netflix mega-hit yet, but it was another reason to like the award-winning singer for anyone who recognized the unique dance moves.

And I think it’s safe to say that viewers were way beyond insane once beloved pop star Fletcher showed up for a steamy, sultry rendition of Cyrus’ “Midnight Sky.” They reportedly broke the internet with a Zoom-based duo, so the fact that they were on stage and thus hands-on was a boon for many fans. But despite all of the above highlighted, perhaps the most WTF moment of the entire special was Miley Cyrus on stage with Sia and Paris Hilton for a surprise rendition of the latter’s “Stars Are Blind.” I wouldn’t go so far as to say that he was universally loved, as there were certainly naysayers.
