Andy Cohen calls out James Corden for scamming him on The Late Late Show

In addition to his New Year’s Eve show with Anderson Cooper, Andy Cohen is still the host of Bravo’s See what’s happening live. The talk show, which has been on the air since 2009, is definitely a different format for a late night talk show, as it doesn’t have the usual desk and chairs, but instead has a bar. Cohen recently opened up about this particular comedy being ripped off by James Corden, another late night talk show host.

Ahead of his annual New York party, which was quite modest compared to previous years, Andy Cohen was a guest on the iHeart podcast, Table for two. the real housewives EP spoke with host and friend Bruce Bozzi about being a talk show host and how it changed the storytelling for the late night television format. Cohen backed that up WWHL it was first on a very specific track and seems to have been ripped off by James Corden:

I think there has been a traditional idea of what a late night talk show is, and I would argue that “Watch What Happens Live” has redefined what a late night talk show is. … [WWHL] it was the first bar of the evening [then] James Corden has a bar. James Corden finished…

The two WWHL Yes the last show they did things that aren’t necessarily traditional late night talk shows, giving the genre a whole new meaning. Luckily, there doesn’t seem to be any hard feelings for Andy Cohen. He was just pointing out what happened and that shows the impact his show of him had.

Since when See what’s happening live it’s been around for so long that other programs are sure to get an idea or two from it. Andy Cohen lets go of the past and, despite everything, is happy for the show to go on:

Well, that’s it. I’m so glad we’re still going. This [the show] That’s great, copy my set … go with God.

It should be interesting to see whether or not James Corden responds to Andy Cohen’s statement and what he has to say. Of course it’s no coincidence that Corden had a slash in his set afterwards WWHL, so it’s likely that he was simply inspired by the idea. But it’s hard to predict whether he’ll make a comment, especially since he’s leaving his talk show very soon.

During the initial COVID shutdown in 2020, Andy Cohen wasn’t sure about the future of See what’s happening live would be seen, revealing his COVID diagnosis and admitting he would try doing episodes from home. Luckily, that bump in the road didn’t stop it, as the non-mainstream talk show is still going strong.

Now that it’s 2023, maybe Andy Cohen can do different things WWHL to fix it a bit, refresh it and see if anyone copies this idea. You never know what can happen on live TV and his program is the place of surprises. Perhaps even James Corden can be invited and the two can discuss their feelings in person. Again, there doesn’t seem to be any hard feelings, but it would be intriguing to see Cohen take on Corden, even if it’s all in fun.
