After being introduced to Benoit Blanc by Daniel Craig in 2019 with knives outDirector Rian Johnson brought the southern gentleman detective back into our lives with the production of “The Horrible Accident” Crystal Onion: a mystery at loggerheads. Following its brief theatrical release at the end of November, the standalone sequel has been available to Netflix subscribers since December 23, and like its predecessor, glass onion received largely positive critical reception. Running for 139 minutes, there’s a lot to absorb glass onionand now Johnson has wondered if the film could get a director’s cut.
Crystal Onion: a mystery at loggerheads That’s nine minutes longer than its predecessor, but if you’re anything like me, this film doesn’t feel like a clock that runs longer than two and a half hours. Still, some might be willing to see Benoit Blanc delve into the case over tech billionaire Miles Bron, but as Rian Johnson said ON CABLE, don’t count on an expanded cut of glass onion be released. As he explained:
I’ve been very, very lucky, you know, I’ve never released a film that wasn’t my cut. I’m so sorry that once a movie is done, it’s done. There have been great directors who have done really great things when editing their films. Although I’ve never had that instinct. Maybe I’m just lazy.

But Johnson is not one of those directors who feel the need to revise one of his films once the final cut is complete. The good news is that we haven’t seen the last of Daniel Craig as Benoit Blanc since. knives out 3 it is under development. Rian Johnson’s next project is the mystery series Poker facewhich will debut for Peacock subscribers on January 26. Johnson is also still busy making another one Star Wars film following his work in the last Jedibut there hasn’t been any movement lately, and he recently admitted that he would be “sad” if the next film set in a galaxy far, far away falls through.
