The end is unfortunately near new amsterdam, and the NBC medical drama still has a few unanswered questions in the two-part series finale. However, from what more than one star has said, there’s a lot to look forward to with the finale. Jocko Sims fans learn more about the past of doctors and Tyler Labine opened up about his hopes for fan reaction to the final episodes.
Labine has played Dr. Iggy Frome since the medical drama’s inception, recently stepping in to play Iggy. through his string of “unfortunate decisions.” When the actor spoke to Gossipify, he talked about reading the script for the series finale and what viewers can expect:
I read it as soon as I received it. I like to come to the table prepared bed [and] I couldn’t wait to see what we did… I can tell you the way we leave the show is very New Amsterdam. [but] It’s not very typical of most TV shows. He won’t be spoon-fed, “Here’s the answer to everything.” It’s more like a very nurturing and loving hug, as we gently pull you into the world. There’s a lot of care and a lot of thinking about what’s happening to these people. You can never tell the whole story. We can give it a few pieces and say, “Here, take this,” and I hope that makes you happy.
It seems like fans shouldn’t come to the Jan. 17 finale expecting clear answers to every question and every detail tightly tied together by the credits, which isn’t always the case for shows that have time to plan ahead. for the end.
Tyler Labine’s comments suggest that some careful planning was required to do the characters justice, so it’s no surprise that he hopes fans are happy! The actor went on to caution that viewers can expect the unexpected with the ending:
We’ll help you connect some dots in your head and how you want to move forward from that point on. There are definitely definitive answers, definitive moments, and things we’ve all been waiting for, but there are also some twists and turns. The ending isn’t traditional, the way the story unfolds. You’ll see what I mean when you see it. It’s pretty daring. It’s pretty cutting edge.
The final episode before the two-part finale set up the finale in an interesting way, whether or not definitive answers were forthcoming for everyone. They The Return of Helen Sharpe didn’t lead to a meeting with Max again with sparks for Sharpwin, but instead it gave Max some clarity about pursuing a relationship with Elizabeth. Iggy’s headshot in the woods helped him realize that she needed to sign divorce papers to officially separate from Martin, but she also wanted to start over with him.
For his part, Reynolds can have a future with Gabrielle, after all if only asks her to stay, and Bloom appears to heal after heartbreak with her sister. Plus, with two hours to go, there’s still time for the “How can I help?” by Maximus. Goodwin to do even more good for the hospital. as to what new amsterdam has in store for the Doctors finale after five seasons, fans will just have to tune in and find out.
The final event of the two-part series for new amsterdam will air Tuesday, January 17 starting at 9:00 p.m. ET on NBC, with previous episodes available to stream with Peacock Premium Subscription . The show will be taking a week off while NBC airs the 2023 Golden Globes on Jan. 10, but according to Tyler Labine, the finale will “hopefully” pay off.
