While the upcoming second season of Expert: Las Vegas will be without ITUC OG William Petersen and Jorja Fox, the series will see the long-awaited return of another OG. Earlier this year it was revealed that Marg Helgenberger would reprise the role of Catherine Willows Expert: Las Vegas, and now the actress is talking about initially leaving the crime drama and more.
Marg Helgenberger was present ITUC for the first 12 seasons of the CBS drama during its original run and even made an appearance in season 14. Being on the same show for so long can have dire consequences, and Helgenberger candidly shared uh his reasoning for leaving the show originally and “running out” seems to have a lot to do with it.
It was interesting because she had played Catherine Willows for so many years. She is like a part of me. In fact, one of the reasons I left the original series was because I felt she had become such an important part of my identity. I was really exhausted, I just had to get away from this character. It wasn’t that she had finished playing it. So, in terms of creating instant camaraderie or an understanding, it was quite natural, I have to say, and I think it’s because I’ve been playing this character for so long. It was great to be back in his boots and skinny jeans.
Marg Helgenberger wasn’t the only great actress to come out ITUC during her original run, and it’s entirely understandable that she wants to miss a TV show on the net, especially since long episodes are known for their long hours and grueling schedules. While it’s nice to hear that although she didn’t necessarily want to leave the show, he felt compelled to do so in order to separate from Catherine. But now she is back! And more Las Vegas Cast members have already shared their excitement over Helgenberger’s return.
Photos from the second season premiere of Expert: Las Vegas were recently released showing Marg Helgenberger back in business. The actress also talked about how she came back to herself, admitting the challenges of returning to hard dialogue used to describe the “science” behind the groundbreaking investigative techniques the show is known for bringing out.
I mean, I have to say it took me a few episodes to warm up. I knew the style of the show, of course, and sometimes there’s a lot of exposure, and there’s definitely a lot of science too, just putting all the evidence together. Sometimes it is difficult for people to have a good dialogue. And let it flow naturally. So, like any job, it takes a few days to warm up.
Going back to a role you haven’t played in a decade is certainly not easy, especially on a show that has a fair amount of dialogue and forensic jargon. However, it looks like Marg Helgenberger is up for the challenge and has been “warming up” for the task over the past few days.
It should be interesting and fun to see Catherine Willows again and see what brings her to Vegas. Whether or not the series will have more original stars remains to be seen. I also don’t know if William Petersen and Jorja Fox will return after their departure in the future, but it might be great to see an even bigger reunion in the future.
Meanwhile, the second season of Expert: Las Vegas We will also see new faces. Sara Amini and Joel Johnstone will return to play the brothers Sonya and Jack, respectively the new Chief Medical Examiner and Deputy Medical Examiner. The two replace Mel Rodríguez after his departure as ME Hugo Ramírez. With the season premiere on the way, it won’t be long before fans see faces old and new on screen and the long-awaited return of Marg Helgenberger as Catherine Willows.
