FBI’s Jeremy Sisto explains why Jubal’s big episode with his “old demons” feels like a season finale

FBI returns to CBS after a brief hiatus from new episodes, and the upcoming deal will up the ante for Jubal in particular. Between the threat of a bioweapon attack in New York City and a scare in his personal life, the character will face pressure from all sides, which is bad news for the “old demons” he’s been battling for years. . Actor Jeremy Sisto spoke to Gossipify about the Jan. 24 episode, titled “Breakdown,” and why it feels like a season finale.

Jubal has had a few rough seasons, including (but not limited to) the shooting and subsequent death of Rina, his son’s health problems, and his personal life tied up with a fatal case when the The delayed Season 4 finale finally airs as part of season five. Viewers have seen him overcome even the worst kinds of pressure, and the episode description of “Breakdown” suggests that some of his past demons will resurface.

Jeremy Sisto opened up about how Jubal is handling the combination of work and family stress this time around, saying:

Things were pretty solid, and what goes into his son’s health journey in this episode is the possibility of something bad happening… It’s just the possibility, but for some reason, maybe because it threw him off balance , perhaps because he woke up . se sentant vulnérable, pour une raison quelconque, de vieux démons entrent dans son cerveau et il commence à devenir assez paranoïaque quant à ce que l’avenir him réserve… Il essaie de continuer à faire du mieux qu’il peut… mais les enjeux sont pupils. It is a chemical bomb and the possibility of human damage is very high. It’s a scary time for him for a lot of different reasons.

The agent’s pressure continues FBI that’s pretty high on a regular basis, but it looks like the stakes are high on a particularly bad day for Jubal. The character has managed to isolate himself in the past, even when he was actively grieving and/or terrified. about the danger to her son . Is the timing just terrible for him in ‘Breakdown’ or is there something else that brings those ‘old demons’ back to life?

Only time will tell, but his struggles with everything from alcohol to pain have made his path as an FBI agent not an easy one. The relationship with Rina seemed to be good for him, even if perhaps he was moving faster than he would have been. recommended for him as a recovering alcoholic , as Sisto himself pointed out in the fourth season. So out of everything he’s been through over the years, how does he manage to hide his various demons? The actor said:

He is very good. It’s been a while since he’s done this, but he’s at least been running for a while. We have talked about it in the past, and it seems that this period was not very short and that no one suspected it. He was able to do it. So it’s obviously good enough to be functional… but it’s an uphill battle.

Jubal was functional when trying to hide his problems in the past, but now he’s a different man. Will he deal with his demons any differently in Season 5, no matter how it plays out? Or will he withdraw due to the pressures of the case combined with potentially bad news about Tyler’s health? In past cases of compartmentalizing Jubal, Isobel has shown concern for him, but the promotion indicates that this case will require everyone to be on deck.

With a mysterious bioweapon on the way, is it any wonder the stakes are even higher than usual? After all, the team’s bout with sarin gas in season 4 resulted in Maggie being exposed long enough to nearly die and she was sidelined until several episodes into season 5. (Maggie’s breakdown allowed the actress Missy Peregrym to take maternity leave.) Jeremy Sisto explained how filming “Breakdown” on location made the episode worthy of a season finale:

We have a great set on this and the director is our director and producer, Alex Chapple, who is very talented, and the writers, and our showrunner Rick Eid, who is also extremely talented. So they were a great team and I’m happy to see them. It was really huge when we were doing it. It felt more like a season finale. There was a lot going on, and every episode can’t be like this, but this one seemed to fall into place. I’m glad you’ve come together on this particular issue, because it’s been a big deal. It was something I was always sure they would address and I’m glad they did it in such a nuanced way.

Fortunately, “Breakdown” and the way it covers the “peculiar problem” alluded to by Sisto won’t be the season finale, and fans can count on many more episodes before the season five credits roll. FBI (as well as fallout FBI: International Yup FBI: Most Wanted) scored a renewal for two more seasons in May, so a sixth season is already guaranteed whatever happens in the next installment for Jubal and the others.

Find out how Jubal handles his demons in the upcoming new episode of FBI (opens in a new tab) Tuesday, January 24 at 8:00 pm ET on CBS. Season 5 so far has delivered everything from a Osteoarthritis trauma while Maggie went to Maggie temporarily keeps a secret on his return to insinuate that Scola has to make an important decision of his future at the office.
