After the quarterfinals they basically saw Celebrity danger! competitors Patton Osvalt, hunt for Brendan, Yup miguel wax destroy their competitors, many were eager to see what would happen when the three winners met in the semi-finals. They didn’t disappoint either, and although the ted lasso actor appeared to be fastest on the buzzer, some Daily Doubles kept the game close. So close, in fact, that it all came down to Final Jeopardy!, where Oswalt rallied to advance to next week’s Finals, and he had Margaret Atwood to thank for that.
Thank him it did, after Patton Oswalt responded to the “Novels” suggestion from Final Jeopardy! to “what is The Handmaid’s Tale?” His teammates didn’t follow suit and the victory that seemed out of reach for the comedian was suddenly his. No one was more surprised than Oswalt, who responded so eloquently with:
What?! I did it…? What the hell? He was crazy. He was crazy.
After Celebrity danger! host Mayim Bialik has officially announced that he will face Ike Barinholtz (madtv, the after party) and Wil Wheaton (Star Trek: The Next Generation, Stay with me) for a chance to win $1 million for their respective charities, asked how Patton Oswalt was feeling after his big surprise. Still shocked, he replied:
I feel nothing right now. All my nerve endings are fused together. I am tired. Thank you Margaret Atwood! Thanks for the dystopias!
No one could have predicted who the author of The Handmaid’s Tale novel, which inspired the series that can be broadcast with a Hulu subscription – would receive a greeting Celebrity danger! And for the most part, no one even predicted a Patton Oswalt victory.
Brendan Hunt, who was previously part of the player pool for the non-famous version of Danger!he held the lead for most of the match, but Michael Cera had a strong lead Triple jeopardy! round and pocketed a pair of True Daily Doubles that kept the game from spiraling out of control. Going into Final Jeopardy!, Hunt had $31,200; Cera had $20,800; and Patton Oswalt had $12,300. Oswalt’s correct answer doubled his score to $24,600, which was enough to win, after Hunt lost $10,500 due to Oswalt’s incorrect answer. Acidity. Cera hilariously lost all of her money when she replied, “What sea cake?”
Patton Oswalt’s performance in the semifinals may not have been as crushing as his quarterfinal match against Torrey DeVitto and Candace Parker. The Sandman actor he walked away with $54,400 versus $3,200 and $1,920 respectively for his competitors, so I have no doubt he’s a worthy contender for the Celebrity danger!
