Warning: spoilers ahead for episode 12 of Law and order: SVU Season 24, titled “Blood Out”.

What happened between Benson and Stabler
As the least optimistic among us in the SVU the fandom undoubtedly foretold it, Benson and Stabler didn’t actually kiss, and they paid off over 20 years of tension in “Blood Out,” but their one scene together still wasn’t a complete decoy. The deception occurred when Benson revealed that he had asked Stabler to collect Noah from where he stayed with his stepbrother, telling him about it expensive that “there is no one I trust more to carry my son home in one piece than Stabler.”
Why not Carisi to roll, left without trying to mention her feelings for Stabler, and she went home. It turns out that Stabler stayed after Noah fell asleep and… things started happening. She called his name and thanked him, to which she responded with, “You’re family.” Then she dropped the question he’d been playing around the promotion for two weeks: “Why didn’t you call me?”
While I argue there’s no way she didn’t hear that the captain of the Manhattan SVC was brutally attacked even though it wasn’t for Benson herself, she simply replied that she knew he would try to protect her. She wondered if something was wrong, like it was becoming very Busy rummaging through closets. It wasn’t enough to dissuade him from saying “I care about you” and then telling her to look at him.
When she finally did, he leaned in for what would be the kiss heard around the world…but she pulled away and said, “I want to, but I can’t.” When she wanted to know why, she asked question number 1: “What if it doesn’t work?” Stabler responded by asking “What if things work out?” She firmly said that she wasn’t ready for this and walked away, perhaps wondering if maybe she should have asked. end to get Noah!
Seriously, Benson’s throwback certainly wasn’t marred by promotional material, though it’s not too hard to predict that in light of 24 seasons and counting that the two haven’t taken any explicitly romantic steps forward. So while I don’t doubt there were a lot of frustrated fans in the credits, I also think the scene made sense to both characters and worked throughout the performances.
How Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni made it work
Besides the fact that the two actors have that kind of chemistry there is it kept viewers interested for two decades (and with one absent from the franchise for many years), Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni have stayed true to their respective shows in the moves they made in their kitchen in “Blood Out.” In fact, this scene touched on most of the factors that made me think above Yup SVU Yup Organized crime they were on the same page on the Benson/Stabler report.
After all, Benson’s only example of actually opening up to someone on more stable it happened when she told Rollins (aided by boxed wine Kelli GiddishThe last episode of ) that he once called home, but still hadn’t stopped giving up all those years before he came back into his life. Meanwhile, on the other hand on the Organized crimeStabler dropped a batting average of let your feelings be heard in a conversation with Jamie, he admitted be in love with someone (albeit drunk and off-screen) that it couldn’t have been anyone other than his former partner, and opened up emotionally to a therapist about losing a friend to “carelessness” and selfishness in what again sounded like a reference to Benson. .. and this is for season 3!
Basically, their respective shows made it clear that Benson and Stabler weren’t on the same page, but ‘Blood Out’ actually hinted that SVU Yup Head they’ve been there all the time…helped by Hargitay and Meloni to give sold out shows. While the storyline continuity between the two shows is never clear, the actors maintain their character continuity whenever they share the screen. Of course Stabler would have intervened and of course she would have backed out. As a fan of the complicated Benson/Stabler dynamic, but I definitely don’t need it to get romantic, the scene really worked for me.
There are now more questions than answers about the sequel after Stabler opens up and Benson bows out. Can you continue to interact normally as friends and colleagues after what happened in your kitchen? That’s it Head Yup SVU actually will have Following continuity, after Stabler clearly thought of her in the episode of Organized crime which immediately followed “Blood Out” on January 26? What the hell did Stabler and Noah talk about in the car? And why did I deprive myself of seeing Stabler and Duarte react?
