Attention! The following contains spoilers for the Walker: Independence Season 1 episode “All in”. Read at your own risk!
Walker: Independence It made me think for weeks that abbythe hypothesis that sheriff tom davidson killed her husband lime, it was the biggest mistake he made in season one. It was bad, but it doesn’t even compare to what happened in the last episode. Thanks to a Texas sandstorm and a night of cartooning, Abby and Tom warmed up and ended up sleeping together before the episode ended. In case it needed to be said, this romance is a near dud.
Of course, at this point it seems likely that Tom’s brother Shane Davidson He was Liam’s real killer, so it could be worse. That said, I don’t think he’s going to get much better, especially considering what we’ve seen in the last couple of episodes and where things could go. Read on for a few reasons!
Tom lies about Shane’s whereabouts
Now that Shane is the prime suspect in Liam Collins’ murder, Abby was more than happy to try and bring Sheriff Tom together to prosecute her brother and bring him to justice. The dust storm kept Tom off the road, but he then assured Abby that he had warned nearby towns to keep an eye on Shane.
Walker: Are you interested in independence? This is what you need to know.
The problem is that Tom is probably lying about this warning. Walker: Independence showed in the previous episode that Tom captured Shane and had him hanged by his hands from the rafters of a barn. Tom told his brother they needed to “talk,” but that was the last scene we saw of them together. Maybe Tom wanted to know who this random guy was that he stabbed him and left him for dead.
After the sandstorm and sleeping with Abby, Tom went to the barn the next morning to see Shane. He opened the doors to find a rope severed and Shane missing. Tom turned to the open ground behind him and called out for his brother, but as expected, Shane didn’t answer.
Shane is on the run, and there’s a chance Tom Davidson didn’t really alert his brother. After all, if Tom was going to abandon Shane, he could have done it while he was tied up in the barn. I can’t imagine Abby would want to know that Tom was keeping her brother from facing justice for Liam’s murder, especially after this huge romantic development between them.
Tom still doesn’t know who Abby really is.
To Tom’s credit, Abby is still keeping a big secret from him that may have affected his decision-making about what to do with his brother Shane. Tom still has no idea that “Abby Walker” is actually “Mary Abigail Collins”, the wife of Liam Collins.
I’m still a little baffled as to how the good sheriff couldn’t pull this all together, especially given the general pressure from Abby to move the murder case forward. That said, I can buy it. Walker: Independence I just turned Tom into an ignorant but benevolent sheriff who would be devastated if this revelation surprised him, especially knowing he was capable of something.
Also, trust is an important element in relationships and this budding romance already adds up to two huge lies. I don’t see how this whole situation will end well, but I’m more than happy to see the chips fall where they might in the next few episodes.
Walker: Independence airs on The CW Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET. As this season progresses, be sure to check out what other new shows are coming to TV with our 2023 TV Schedule.
