Cindy Crawford’s Daughter Joins the Baby Nepo Debate and May Have the Most Honest Opinion Ever

There has been a lot of talk lately about the benefits given to so-called “nepo kids” in the entertainment industry. Of Lily-Rose Depp denies that their works are the fruit of nepotism for Gwyneth Paltrow says it made her career more difficult a Hailey Bieber proudly wears the title , the children of various celebrities and their famous parents have added their two cents to the discussion. One of the latest to join the talk is Kaia Gerber, who, like her mother Cindy Crawford, is a model and her version is probably the most honest to date.

The baby nepo argument essentially suggests that kids who follow their parents into the entertainment industry already have one foot in the door. This hardly seems like a position that Kaia Gerber refutes. As the daughter of Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber (who co-founded Casamigos tequila with George Clooney ), fully acknowledges that having her mother be a veteran of the business has advantages. She gave a refreshingly honest answer to a question about people making assumptions about her career by telling them She :

I will not deny the privilege I have. Even if it’s just the fact that I have a great source of information and someone who gives me good advice, I feel very lucky for that alone. My mother always joked, “If I could call and schedule a Chanel campaign, it would be for me and not for you.” But I also met amazing people thanks to my mother who I can now work with.

Kaia Gerber said her privilege is more in having a father who knows the industry so well and can therefore give her advice, rather than getting her jobs booked. It’s kind of funny that Cindy Crawford says that if it were as easy as making a phone call, she’d book her jobs that way. (Although I’m not convinced she can’t. Who is turning Cindy-Crawford down?)

The 21-year-old went on to say that there are limits to nepotism, especially when it comes to acting. She explained:

With acting it’s very different. No artist will sacrifice their vision for someone’s child. That’s not how art is made, and what interests me is art. Also, no one wants to work with someone who is boring, difficult to work with, and hostile. Yes, nepotism is prevalent, but I think if it really was what people think it is, we’d see it even more.

There is a valid point to be made about this. With so many millions of dollars spent making movies and TV shows, and so much at stake for the entire cast and crew, not to mention art direction, as Kaia Gerber pointed out, there must still be talent in the people. they are hired.

Even Kate Hudson, whose entire family is in the business, has downplayed talk of nepotism, saying it’s a way more common in other industries . Tom Hanks also spoke of acting as a “family affair,” saying his four children are involved in the narrative defense of his son Truman Hanks to be cast as a younger version of her character A man named Otto. And that shouldn’t surprise anyone except Whoopi Goldberg and the rest View he had strong views on nepotism too, as well.

The nepotism conversation probably isn’t going anywhere, but it’s always refreshing to hear someone broach the subject with as much honesty and consideration as Gerber.
