The trailer for this film, which will be released on March 11, directed by the Dutch collective Kirac, was released at the end of January. Specifically, we see the writer, shirtless, kissing a young woman in bed.
In voice-over, the director, Stefan Ruitenbeek, also recounts that Mr. Houellebecq had written to him that his honeymoon in Morocco had been cancelled, while his wife, according to him, “spent a month to get prostitutes in advance.” ‘”.
“Serious and misleading statements”
The couple “discovered with dismay and disgust” that the trailer for “Kirac 27” contained “serious and false statements that implicate them, which violently undermine their dignity”, write Mes Angélique Bérès and Maïa Kantor, who defend the spouses, in a press release. .
Therefore, he instructed his advisers to “immediately put an end to these attacks by all means” by “removing this trailer from platforms and social networks around the world” and prohibiting the director and the collective “any exploitation, commercial or other type”. commercials, in any form, of the film (…) and other images they have of the Houellebecq spouses”.
According to Me Bérès, contacted by AFP, “preliminary proceedings have already been initiated with the director and the platforms” to obtain the ban on the film, particularly if it contains off-screen comments from the trailer.
In a letter sent to the director, which AFP learned of, Michel Houellebecq evokes “the explosion of violence” in the trailer, “which irreparably damages (his) private life, (his) honor but above all, which is even more serious.” . , to (his) wife of hers, devastated by the lies “spread about her.”
