At 39, Mika tries her hand at film soundtracks. The singer composed the music for Zodi & Tehu, brothers of the desert, in theaters this Wednesday. A family film with Alexandre Lamy, about the friendship between a young nomad and an orphan camel.
“When Eric [Barbier, le réalisateur, NDLR] told me that it was Mika who was going to do the music, I said to myself, ‘Really?’. It’s great to have the idea of proposing to Mika. Everyone tells us it’s a great idea,” the actress exclaimed on BFMTV.
“I learned a lot”
This is the first time for the singer, who was able to realize a childhood dream, tells our microphone: “When I was 8 years old, I told my mother that I wanted to make musical films. Except that I couldn’t read music, I did everything by ear. So they didn’t accept me at the Conservatory. And I opted to do classical singing”.
Mika worked for two years on the film’s music, a mix of symphonic and traditional Berber instruments. “I worked with musicologists. I learned a lot,” he enthuses.
Mika, who also had the know-how of 160 musicians, composed more than an hour of original music. He also performs three songs in the film, including one with South African artist Nomfundo Moh.
