Four years ago, Gotham City concluded its five-season run on Fox, with the remaining seconds of the series finale finally showing David Mazouz’s Bruce Wayne disguised as Batman. Among the actors present during almost the entire Gotham CityThe career of Chris Chalk, who first starred in season 1 as Lucius Fox, and was subsequently credited as a main cast member for the remaining four seasons. While Chalk is missing something in particular from his time in the Batman prequel series, he also admitted while speaking with Gossipify that Lucius was “underutilized” in Gotham City.
These days, Chris Chalk can be seen on HBO shows. mason perry like Paul Drake, who faces major complications at the start of season two. But after you finish reviewing mason perryI asked Chalk what he missed most about his time Gotham Cityas well as what he thought of the end of the series, especially in regards to the journey of Lucius Fox. Here’s what he had to say about the first part of my question:
What I miss the most is that we were a really big cast and we hung out a lot. And I’m not in NYC where most of them are now, so I don’t see a lot of them and a lot of them are doing great. But I miss the real human beings of this show in front of and behind the camera, as well as Perry Mason. Extraordinary team, company, manufacturing, accounting, they’ve always been such well-meaning people. I miss them, I miss them so much. I actually went to New York to shoot something, I was in Steiner and I got to see some of my friends, and I was like ‘We’re back, we’re back! I’m not on your schedule! And some people from Gotham were on the show that I was on, so that was great.
It’s nice to know that Chris Chalk enjoyed the company of the people he worked with Gotham City, because there are definitely cases where people who collaborate on a TV series don’t mind spending more time together than necessary. Unfortunately, since Chalk doesn’t live in New York, he doesn’t see as many of these people as he would like, which makes these encounters all the more valuable. Along with David Mazouz, the Chalk co-stars in Gotham City They included Ben McKenzie as James Gordon, Donald Logue as Harvey Bullock, Sean Pertwee as Alfred Pennyworth, Robin Lord Taylor as Oswald Cobblepot/Penguin, Cory Michael Smith as Edward Nygma/Riddler, Erin Richards as as Barbara Kean and Camren Bicondova as Selina Kyle. . .. among many others.
Conversely, in Chris Chalk’s mind, the downside of Gotham City having such a large main cast is that he felt Lucius Fox didn’t get his chance on the show. As the actor said:
Lucius was underutilized, you can call him what he was. We can call him what he is. Lucius was underused; I think they’ve done a good job of having 14 series regulars in one show, which is crazy. It’s absurd, it’s crazy, it’s a lot of people. I think they did their best considering how many mouths they had to feed, and if I had my preference it would be The Lucius Fox Show. So of course I will say there should have been more. I’m selfish.
Chris Chalk was the first actor to play Lucius Fox live after Morgan Freeman’s role as Christopher Nolan. black Knight trilogy, and even though he had a lot to do Gotham City In seasons 2 and 3, his role was expanded in season 4. But, as Chalk sees, with so many series regulars, there was simply no way his version of Lucius was going to have enough time to shine. . At least Gotham City Fans can rest easy knowing that just like his comic book counterpart, Chalk’s Lucius will be one of Batman’s key allies in the war against Gotham City’s criminal element.
If you missed Chris Chalk’s role as Lucius Fox or want to relive it, Gotham City can be streamed with an HBO Max subscription.
