Accused of violence by dozens of women, the Hip-Hop Magnate P. Diddy, who was acquitted of the heaviest positions against him at the end of a hypermediatal sexual violence trial, will be established on Friday, October 3 by his sentence. In a letter sent to the judge on the eve of his decision, the star apologized for his actions.
He says he is “broken” by what he did, after being “lost in drugs and excess.”
After two months of debate in New York, the jury members rejected in July the most serious accusations of sexual trafficking and the association of criminals against Sean combs, of their real name, saving it perpetuity of imprisonment.
But the ex -rapper and businessman, 55, could still receive a great penalty: the facts of transporting people by prostitution, so he was convicted, are responsible for 20 years in prison in total.
The Prosecutor’s Office claimed 11 years in prison or more, insisting on the “gravity” of the facts, but also the lack of “repentance” of P. Diddy, the “trauma” suffered by the victims and the “threat” that they say they feel of him.
For its part, the defense requested that its sentence does not exceed 14 months, highlighting its good behavior from its imprisonment and its “destroyed” image. This duration would allow them to combs be released before the end of the year, given the time dedicated to the arrest prior to the trial in Brooklyn.
“Overwhelmed”
Among the victims, singer Cassie, her girlfriend from 2007 to 2018, urged the judge to take into account “the many lives that are combs has overturned” and “the force that led the victims to present themselves.”
“I always have nightmares, I have daily flashbacks and I still need psychological attention,” he wrote in a letter, saying that she and her family had left the New York region for fear of “reprisals” if P. Diddy was “released.”
The former hip-hop man, who seemed particularly aged during his judgment, hair and white beard, had a triple career as a producer, rapper and entrepreneur. He had signed the rap legend the great notorious in the 90s, before he knows success as Puff Daddy and then associates with alcohol marks.
He was accused of having forced women, including Cassie and a more recent partner who testified under the pseudonym “Jane”, to participate in sexual marathons with prostituted men while masturbating or filmed. He was also accused of having established a criminal network to organize these activities called “monsters” or “hotel nights.”
Presidential grace?
In 2023, Cassie filed a complaint against him in a civilian for rape and accused him of having a “violent behavior” and “deviating” for a decade. If the case was resolved in 24 hours, “friendly”, according to a confidential agreement, it gave rise to other complaints, having led to this criminal trial.
During the debates, the singer, pregnant and “Jane” said they were subject to threats linked to their reputation, their financial situation and physical integrity.
The jury members have seen recordings of the sexual marathons in question, as well as the images of the surveillance cameras of a Los Angeles hotel that shows P. Diddy dragging the soil Cassie and driving it.
Very offensive during their opposite people, trying to discredit dependent witnesses, defense lawyers did not denote the facts. They, on the other hand, assured that the “monsters” were granted and that their client had a “polyamuric” lifestyle that does not fall under criminal law.
The defense did not hide, in addition, to seek to obtain the presidential grace of Donald Trump. A request that is unlikely to be successful, the president rejected the idea during an interview in early August, speaking of someone “very malicious.”
