The end of season 13 of Blue blood is getting closer and fans are sure to have a lot of questions as it gets closer. Probably one of the biggest concerns is the possible romance between Danny Reagan and Maria Baez. However, amidst all this speculation, it has been reported that the show is welcoming a major character that fans probably haven’t seen yet. Jennifer Esposito, who played Detective Jackie Curatola for the first three seasons of Police Procedural, returns and is reunited with her former on-screen partner!
Danny and Jackie, who is now the police chief, will get back together on a case, according to TV Line. The two, along with Baez, team up to track down a killer, whose work is similar to that of serial killer Dr. Leonard Walker. That’s pretty surprising, given that Jennifer Esposito left the show in 2012, which means it’s been over a decade since she last played Jackie. Nothing more has been revealed about the actress’ return, though CBS has shared a sweet behind-the-scenes photo showing Esposito on set with Donnie Wahlberg and Marisa Ramirez.
Considering it’s been so long since he’s last appeared, I’m incredibly excited to see Jackie Curatola again. A lot has changed since she left, although I suspect the same will be true for her given her new position. This job could mean that the career dynamic between Jackie and Danny will be different this time around. Though I still hope the episode gives off similar vibes to previous installments in the series.
Jennifer Esposito has been keeping busy since leaving the cast of Blue bloodeven switch to another CBS series, NCIS extensionwhere he played Alex Quinn during season 14. He also appeared in she’s funny like that, The subject, Blind spot, Law and order: SVU and more recently, Awkwafina is Nora from Queens AND somewhere in the queens. Though she’s done a lot since she ended her career in police procedural, I imagine it hasn’t been too difficult for the talented actress to return to her role as Curator after all these years.
As of right now, fans should only hope to see her reappear in the season 13 finale. However, it would be very exciting if that sets the stage for her to reappear in the recently ordered season 14. Surely longtime fans would agree. Sure, we probably shouldn’t go too far here, but it sure is a fun idea to fantasize about, to say the least.
There may only be a few episodes left, but Blue blood Season 13 is clearly still planning a surprise sweet reunion. One can only hope that the series ends its final year of storytelling on a positive note. We’ll have to wait and see how things play out, but, with Jennifer Esposito back in the fold for the finale, I’d say things are looking good.
Watch new episodes of Blue blood when they air Fridays at 10 p.m. ET on CBS as part of the 2023 TV schedule.
