Arnold Schwarzenegger played one of the most iconic villains from the original story. terminator, but these days he is known to try to do good. recently went viral on Twitter for trying to do a good deed, but now the response to that good deed was pushback that shocked the former governor over a CBS headline that appears to imply that the work done by Schwarzenegger and others it wasn’t. it was what it appeared to be.
Last week Arnold posted a video of himself. and others fix a pothole that he says on Twitter has been a problem for weeks but hasn’t been fixed by the city of Los Angeles. Many saw this as a great example of community members going out and doing something about a problem. However, this was followed by news that Schwarzenegger defiedas it implied that what was being repaired was not a hole, but a trench dug for public works.
This headline/tweet is fake. The story is correct: the utility works were completed in January. I filled the hole 3 months later and the city left my fix in place. This story should be taught in a classroom for people who don’t understand why institutional trust is declining. https://t.co/yq0VZwVqr3April 16, 2023
While the Terminator actor attacks the title as misleading, he admits there is some truth to what happened, which the body of the story includes. Apparently some utility work had been done on the road a few months ago, but the work had long been done. However, the repair work on the ditch had not been completed and this, combined with the stronger than usual storms California experienced this winter, led to the hole problem.
This is very different from the idea that Schwarzenegger and others simply filled in a service ditch, which appears to have potentially interfered with major road works. It certainly does not appear to have been so, but the title reads like this.
Schwarzenegger calls the title part of the reason people have lost “institutional trust.” If one reads just the headline, as many probably do, one might get the impression that Schwarzenegger and others simply didn’t do what they claimed to do. It appears the city is claiming there were no potholes, but the actor says that’s not the case. Yes, you read the story, but you find out what happened. Including that once the city went to do the repair work, after the initial tweet went viral, they kept the work already done and only strengthened it.
Teamwork. Glad to help speed up this process and thanks to the team for improving my solution. https://t.co/3PMiegYGZs pic.twitter.com/UgoPLUpdbMApril 14, 2023
Although Schwarzenegger returned to making films after serving as governor of California, he is also a very active user of social media. Arnold uses him to promote worthy causes and uses his fame to reach out to the public about issues he thinks are important.
Ultimately, what seems clear here is that Arnold Schwarzenegger and others in his neighborhood have come together to do something good for the neighborhood. While the details of why the job had to be done are a little fuzzy, it seems like it all worked out in the end.
