Magnum IP left viewers mesmerized by the explosive episode leading up to the season five spring finale on April 23. With filmed CT, Det. Childs could explode and Magnum doesn’t know that the mercenaries identified him and his friends a few years ago. big questions that need answers . Luckily, star Jay Hernandez spoke to Gossipify to preview the upcoming finale, and fans should apparently be nervous about what’s going on.
The spring finale is called “Charlie Foxtrot” and follows an episode that also put Higgins in a hallucinatory situation in addition to what happened to TC and Childs, with Jay Hernandez sharing his thoughts on what Magnum was going to do with what he saw when he is overloaded with drugs. While the star obviously wouldn’t release any major spoilers about what was to come, Hernández teased an action-packed episode on April 23…and some complications, saying:
There’s a lot of action, of course. [That] It goes without saying. We will see the resolutions. [and] know what happens to TC. They like to go big in these finals, and it’s a mid-season final, which is a little bit different. [laughs] I don’t want to spoil it, but Detective Childs is in a tricky situation. There is a lot of action. It is funny. 509, the previous episode, is a little dark, so in classic Magnum PI fashion, it’s going to end on a lighter note, which is a good thing. People needn’t worry too much about the show’s drastic shift in tone.
If the first five seasons of Magnum IP something they have shown so far is that it is a show (it doesn’t matter if formerly on CBS or currently on NBC ) who knows how to bring cinematic action to the small screen. While that’s not to say all of the action will work in the heroes’ favor, Jay Hernandez’s tease of ending on “a lighter note” is promising. Whether or not there will be a “Charlie Foxtrot” sequel beyond the midseason finale remains to be seen, but the tone won’t completely change.
However, with the lives of more than one character at stake before the spring finale kicks off, much remains unknown. When asked how nervous he thinks fans should be about what happens after episode 9 (which he also drove ), Jay Hernandez shared:
I think one of the really great things about the episode is that it’s supposed to make people nervous. Not knowing what will happen to Childs, TC, Rick, Magnum and Higgins. Not knowing that hopefully people will tune in for the mid-season finale.
It seems safe to say that anyone who saw the penultimate episode when it aired on NBC or streamed it with a Peacock Premium Subscription you’ll want to know what happens next, with TC apparently badly injured at the end and Childs’ fate unconfirmed. When I commented to the star that no other characters had her name in the series title for safety reasons, she replied, “Well, exactly!” So fans might want to get a little nervous!
As director of the season five finale episode before the mid-season finale, Jay Hernandez directed some of the show’s biggest moments since his time at NBC. after intense fan support . He explained what it was like for him to deal with those moments as a director and as an actor, saying:
I just wanted more of them. If it was up to me, I would have filmed the next episode, the mid-season finale. [laughs] I would have continued to shoot. It’s funny, because I’m in almost every scene and it takes an incredible amount of time to direct. All day there’s preparation, there’s a post, there’s daily life on set and I always appreciate that.
Magnum IP It’s clearly a lot of work for Jay Hernandez even when he’s not behind the camera directing and starring. The actor went on to say that he’s definitely interested in doing it again, and his love of directing is worth it. Hernandez continued:
It’s something I really enjoy doing and I’m looking forward to doing it again next season. Even for directing outside the show. I’ve wanted to do this for a long time and Magnum gave me the opportunity and I’ve done almost a hundred television episodes. So I feel pretty well prepared. But yeah, I think this mid-season finale is going to be exciting. He’s had an active social media following over the past week, so I think you’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for him.
We still don’t know what the future holds for us. Magnum IP beyond the current fifth season, but fans still have half after the mid-season finale… with everything changed or not after the events of the episode. Luckily, the wait for “Charlie Foxtrot” is almost over, and the promo showcases some of the action Hernandez praised:
