Public Health France is categorical: all syndromic indicators related to bronchiolitis are increasing, indicates the health agency in its bulletin published this Wednesday, November 20.
The most affected regions are Ile-de-France, Hauts-de-France, Guyana, Guadeloupe and Martinique, classified “in epidemic phase.” Furthermore, “seven regions are in the pre-epidemic phase in France.” These are Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Brittany, Centre-Loire Valley, Grand Est, Normandy, New Aquitaine and Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur.
Influenza at its “basic level”, except in Ile-de-France and Reunion
“Syndromic indicators related to bronchiolitis increased in cities and in hospitals, to levels lower than those observed in the three years preceding the same period,” writes Public Health France.
“The current dynamics seem similar to those observed in the same period during the seasons before the pandemic,” they continue. Cases of bronchiolitis were rare in 2020-2021, in a context marked by several confinements.
“Other viruses that can cause bronchiolitis are currently still circulating in France,” warns Public Health France, citing rhinoviruses and enteroviruses.
Regarding the flu, Public Health France indicates that “all indicators are still at their basic level in all regions, with the exception of Ile-de-France which entered the pre-epidemic phase this week and Réunion in post-epidemic” since last week.
“Adopting barrier gestures remains essential to protect yourself from all winter diseases,” reminds the health agency.
