He informed “continuous discussions with the National Health Security Agency to deal with the scourge of metabolic diseases, diabetes and obesity,” which affect “almost 20% of our children and adolescents” to guarantee “that in France we can take care of obesity at all levels, educational, healthy, sports and medicated.”
The question of prescribing new treatments
When asked about the possibility of expanding the prescription of new treatments against obesity to general doctors, Yannick Neuder replied that he wanted to “advance this issue if possible”, emphasizing that “obesity is a great provider of cardiovascular diseases” that causes 140,000 deaths per year in France.
“This is one of the things that are in the completion phase,” said Minister of Labor, Health and Solidarity, Catherine Vautrin, during this visit.

Wegovy and Mounjaro are not reimbursed in France as in many European countries, except in Switzerland and England. Prices are in negotiation for a possible reimbursement. Meanwhile, the patient must pay “6 to 9 euros per day” for the Wogovy.
Semaglutidal molecule
For his part, Eli Lilly France said it was “favorable” to expand the prescription conditions, which adds to “confirmation of this decision that could take place in the coming weeks.” Eli Lilly is “capable of providing Mounjaro’s demand, produced in the Fergersheim factory in Alsacia, said an AFP spokesman.
The semaglutidal molecule that mimics an intestinal hormone, stimulates insulin secretion and provides a feeling of satiety, is also used in the Ozempico anti -diabetic, which is reimbursed in France.
“We hope there is a sooner care or later for the people who need it most,” said Etienne Tichit.
Wegovy occurs in the United States for the US market and in Europe, on the site of Chartres, to serve around 80 countries. His active ingredient, the component that gives his therapeutic power to the medicine, comes from Denmark.
