Dupomb Law: The Constitutional Council will take “a priori” its decision on August 7

The Constitutional Council is expected to make its decision on the Duplom Law on August 7. An important citizen mobilization had followed the adoption of this law that is well criticized for its environmental impact.

The Constitutional Council will make “a priori” on August 7 on August 7, its long -awaited decision on the duplicity of the law in dispute, which reintroduces a pesticide in a derogatory manner, the institution announced this Friday, July 25.

The decision of the wise, who can censor everyone or part of the law, will be very closely analyzed, while a request deposited at the National Assembly site and requesting the repeal of the text compiled more than 1.9 million signatures, a record of said approach.

The deputies and left senators confiscated the Constitutional Council in mid -July, arguing that the law, adopted in Parliament on July 8, is incompatible with the preservation of the environment and the right to health.

The exam conditions reported

The deputies also denounce the conditions to examine the text. No amendment could be discussed in the hemicycle of the Assembly, the text was rejected from the beginning by its defenders to avoid what they had described as “obstruction” of the left.

The Law of Senator Les Républicins Laurent Dupumb significantly authorizes the reintroduction under acetamipride, a pesticide of the family of neonicotinoids prohibited in France but authorized in other places in Europe.

This product, toxic to biodiversity and potentially for human health, is claimed by beet or hazelnut producers, who believe they have no alternatives against pests and experience an unfair competition of foreign producers.

Several controversial measures

Applicants of the Constitutional Council believe that this reintroduction contravenes in particular the principles of precaution and not environmental regression.

The law, presented by its defenders in response to the manifestations of the agricultural world of 2024, contains other controversial measures, for example, the increase in environmental authorization thresholds for intensive farms or the facilitation of water storage for crop irrigation (Mega-Bassines).

If the Constitutional Council does not censure the text, the left already calls Emmanuel Macron to request a new deliberation of the law in Parliament, as allowed by the Constitution.

If the president promulgates it well, several left wing groups, including the socialists, have announced that they wanted to bring a bill repealing the provisions of the agricultural text.
