“Your skin is your life.” The Minister of Health, Yannick Neuder, warned on Monday, July 28 about the dangers of trends in social networks encouraging himself to expose himself to the sun without protection, to reveal tanning traces, called “solar tattoos”, “burn lines” or “toast lines”.
“Burning the skin voluntarily for a Tiktok or Instagram video: this is what I have seen for a few weeks on social networks with the sun’s tattoos, the Burns and Los Tanines lines,” explains Yannick Neuder in a video published on several social networks.
“Your skin is your life, you just have one, do not sacrifice it for 30 seconds of buzzing,” he said.
These trends, very promoted in English -speaking videos, consist of not applying sun protection to obtain very delimited tan marks or invite you to draw a pattern with sunscreen to track, similar to an ephemeral tattoo.
“You have to stop everything”
“Exposing the sun without cream, or without protection, sometimes even with oils or monoi, an ephemeral tattoo is made in the skin for solar burns: you have to stop it, it is very dangerous,” warns the minister responsible for health and access to care.
Exposure to UV rays is in fact the main factor in skin cancer. Each year, in France, from 141,200 to 243,500 leather cancers, it is diagnosed, including 112,960 to 194,800 caused by excessive exposure to UV rays, according to Public Health France.
“We know that solar burns in children significantly increase the risk of cancer in adulthood, the risk of melanoma,” insists Yannick Neuder.
In his prevention campaign before summer, the National Cancer Institute (Inca) said there is no “healthy tan.” “The latter constitutes an aggression for the skin, a sign of a reaction that begins against the damage caused by UV, natural or artificial. Therefore, tanned skin indicates that DNA has suffered damage,” the institute said.
Multiple sun protection
In case of sun exposure, the use of sunscreen is essential and renewing every two hours, but even the most effective solar products, index 50, do not filter all UV. The Minister of Health recalls that sun protection should be multiple: wear clothes with tight or anti-UV tissue treated, a hat hat, sunglasses, avoid exposure to the hottest hours.
ANSES (National Agency for Environmental, Environmental and Labor Security) has published advice on risky behavior on May 12 (UV cabins, food, self -employed).
