Debate on the state of the nation moved to July 20

The conference of leaders has adjusted the calendar of the last plenary sessions of the current legislative session and moved the debate on the state of the nation to July 20, initially scheduled for the previous day.

The summary of last Wednesday’s leadership conference, released this Monday, says that the president of the Assembly of the Republic has indicated that work in plenary will end on July 20 with the debate on the state of the nation.

According to the same document, Augusto Santos Silva also indicated that for the previous day, July 19, “the review of the report of the parliamentary inquiry committee to TAP should be scheduled”.

The discussion and vote on the final report in the committee is scheduled for July 13.

On April 12, the leaders’ conference indicatively scheduled the debate on the state of the nation for July 19, with the final plenary scheduled to vote the following day.

The April 26 summary reads that the deputy minister of parliamentary affairs “requested a change to July 20 of the indicative schedule of the debate on the state of the nation, moving the final plenary session to global final votes for the day July 19th, who raised no objection”.

Also scheduled for 19 July is the general debate on two government bills on professional orders, alongside the debate on the priorities of the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union (EU) and the assessment and vote on Portugal’s report in EU2022.

At the suggestion of the President of the Assembly, which earned consensus, these two European debates will be merged into one discussion, the summary notes.

On that day, the last votes in the plenary meeting of this legislature will take place.

The summary also indicates that there will be no plenary sessions between July 7 and July 19, “so that the committees can finalize legislative processes and send texts to the vote”.
