If there is a PSD government, there will be without “racist, xenophobic and immature politicians and policies” that run counter to “social-democratic principles”. The guarantee comes from Luís Montenegro, president of the party, in statements to the Spanish newspaper El País, who was in a report with the “orange” leader between Seixal and Costa da Caparica. Are the statements that Montenegro sees in André Ventura embodying the values you mentioned? “We define principles and not people,” he replies, guaranteeing: “We will never violate our social-democratic principles.”
However, in statements to the Spanish newspaper, the chairman of the largest opposition party refuses to say whether or not he will conclude a national agreement such as that in force in the Azores, where the social democrats rule with Chega’s support. “There is a lot of curiosity” to the right, Luís Montenegro supposes, “but not to the left”. They all cause problems left and right. The PCP and the bloc do not identify with NATO and sometimes even with the European Union. The PCP is a party that finds it difficult even to condemn the invasion of Ukraine.”
In the text published on Wednesday, the the country recalls that both in Portugal and in Spain the PSD and PP, respectively, are fighting for a change in the political cycle.
