Elections in Madeira scheduled for September 24

Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa has scheduled elections to the legislative assembly of the Autonomous Region of Madeira for September 24, according to the page of the President of the Republic.

According to the electoral law of the Legislative Assembly of the Autonomous Region of Madeira, the elections should take place between September 22 and October 14 and be scheduled at least 60 days in advance by the President of the Republic (or, in the case of dissolution, at least 55 days advance).

PSD and CDS-PP have already announced that they will work together and renew the coalition that has governed the region since 2019.

Miguel Albuquerque (PSD/CDS-PP), Sérgio Gonçalves (PS), Roberto Almada (BE), Edgar Silva (CDU), Miguel Castro (Chega), Nuno Morna (Liberal Initiative), Élvio Sousa (JPP), Tiago Camacho ( Livre), Valter Rodrigues (MPT), Joaquim José Sousa (PAN), Raquel Coelho (PTP) and Liana Reis (RIR) are the already announced candidates.

Currently, the PSD has 21 of the 47 deputies of the Legislative Assembly of Madeira, the CDS-PP has three, the PS has 19, the JPP has three and the PCP has one deputy.
