Marta Temido elected President of PS Lisboa with 99% of the vote

Former Health Minister Marta Temido was elected chair of the PS’ political committee in Lisbon after receiving 99% of the votes validly cast, according to a PS source.

The by-election act for the election of the Municipal Political Commission of the PS Lisboa took place Friday afternoon, with a single list running, with the ‘slogan’ “The Lisbon we want”.

“There was an election turnout of 39.5%, with 99% of valid votes cast on the list led by Marta Temido,” he explained.

Asked by journalists about the possibility of being the socialist candidate for the presidency of the Lisbon City Council in the next municipal elections, in 2025, she replied: “Just as I was available for this work in the municipality, I will be available as the Socialist Party needs me, but this is not that time”.

In the September 2021 municipal elections, Social Democrat Carlos Moedas was elected Mayor of the Lisbon City Council by the coalition “Novos Tempos” (PSD/CDS-PP/MPT/PPM/Aliança), removing the autarchy from the PS , who led the executive branch of the capital for 14 years.

“The Lisbon we want aims at a fairer city for all, while qualifying the territory and promoting global sustainability,” said Marta Temido, criticizing the current PSD/CDS-PP leadership, which rules without an absolute majority , for urban hygiene that is “work worse” and “chaotic” mobility in the city.

Marta Temido was number two in Lisbon’s socialist council and was president until the election.
