The president of the National Rally (RN), Jordan Bardella, will ask Emmanuel Macron this Wednesday to organize a referendum on France’s immigration policy on June 9, 2024, coinciding with the European elections.
The Head of State must receive the parties represented in Parliament at the Legion of Honor educational center in Saint-Denis, near Paris, to prepare “together” legislative texts and pave the way, “if necessary”, in referendums, in the absence of an absolute majority in the National Assembly.
“The urgency of the situation requires a consultation with the French people (…) on our immigration policy, which includes all the measures to regain control of it,” writes Jordan Bardella in advance in a letter to the President of the Republic, of which AFP obtained a copy.
“Il ne saurait y avoir de sursaut national et républicain sans une prize de conscience des dangers d’une immigration de peuplement et sans un changement complet de cette politique, vers plus de fermeté, d’exigence et de maîtrise”, affirme-t- He.
Purchasing power and school
The RN president will also question the Head of State about the purchasing power of the French, calling for a “moratorium on any increase in taxes and duties” until the end of the five-year term in 2027.
It will also emphasize “the reduction of energy bills and fuel prices, the tax exemption of salary increases of up to 10% and the suppression of the CVAE (contribution to the added value of companies, editor’s note) to promote reindustrialization. .
Referring to the “school crisis,” Jordan Bardella calls for a “review of school curricula” with special attention to “the nation’s history” and “a more attractive teaching vocation through additional salary increases.”
On all these issues, the French “want clear acts, which express the infallible will to restore the authority of the State and protect the identity of France,” he insists.
The party leaders are invited to an afternoon of debates and a dinner, a “loyal outstretched hand”, says Emmanuel Macron, just weeks after violent urban riots, to find ways to “converge without denials or resignations”.
After wanting to dismiss the National Group (RN) and the rebellious France (LFI), the Eliseo changed its mind and finally invited these two formations that the macronie considers, however, outside the “republican arch”.
