Costa: “The prime minister’s role is not that of a commentator, but that of a doer”

António Costa on Tuesday rejected the existence of an iron fist with the president of the republic over the Mais Habitação program, insisting that it is now “the turn of the Assembly of the Republic to exercise its powers”.

“The President of the Republic immediately said that the Assembly of the Republic is completely free and sovereign to decide to confirm the diploma. It is natural and healthy, we live in a democracy”he said, on the sidelines of the opening of a children’s center in Montijo. “It is normal that everyone, in the exercise of their powers, does not always agree”he added.

Hours before the meeting of the Council of State, Costa refused to comment on the words of Marcelo, who said that the Mais Habitação program was not a closed case, but spoke… in response. “The role of a prime minister is not to be a commentator, but a doer. It is doing, executing, identifying solutions to problems…he stressed, assuring that the government will implement the program it promised the Portuguese.

Smiling, Costa revealed that they tell him on the street not to lose his smile, applauding the increase in the capacity of the nurseries as well as the freedom of it. “The opening we have is as wide as possible. The supply will have to increase”folded.
