The leader of the Liberal Initiative (IL) reaffirmed this Saturday that the measures presented by the Prime Minister try to “mislead” young people, but the “best prepared generations ever” realize that they are “victims of deception”.
“The problem with António Costa is that the best prepared generations never understand well when they are victims of deception, are victims of misleading advertising and certainly do not fail to respond to António Costa, as António Costa deserves. With indifference and even indignation about this advertisement,” Rui Rocha said today before the National Council meeting in Coimbra.
For every year of work in Portugal, the government promises to give students back one year of tuition fees paid in their first years at a public university in the country, just as public transport tickets will become free for all children and young people. people up to 23 years old, from January next year.
The Prime Minister of the Socialist majority government also announced changes to the IRS Jovem rules.
The IL leader referred to some recent studies showing that “almost half” of young people who voted for the PS in the parliamentary elections would not vote for the party again.
According to Rui Rocha, these measures, which “try to deceive, but in fact do not deceive anyone”, allow us to understand that there are “two very different visions of the country”.
“The vision of the PS [partido socialista]the vision of a stagnant country, which manages small benefits to satisfy its clientele and interest groups, which buys votes,” he stressed.
The Liberal Initiative’s vision is completely “contrary”, as it “puts economic growth at the center of political action”.
Rui Rocha spoke of the Prime Minister’s promises “some have not been fulfilled and others, if fulfilled, will do more harm than good”, such as the More Housing package.
“What António Costa is doing is ruining more. It’s not about more housing, it’s not about more solutions,” he added.
The National Council of IL is meeting in Coimbra and has on its agenda, among other things, the decision on the date of the party’s legal convention, which will be announced later this afternoon.
Council members will also debate taxes.
