The IL deputy elected to the Parliament of Madeira declared on Wednesday that he is no longer available to talk to the head of the list of the PSD/CDS-PP coalition, Miguel Albuquerque, who held Sunday’s regional elections without absolute majority has won.
Nuno Morna spoke to journalists at the Palácio de São Lourenço in Funchal, after being received by the representative of the Republic, Ireneu Barreto, who today began listening to the parties that achieved parliamentary representation after Sunday’s regional parliamentary elections.
The elected deputy said he spoke with Miguel Albuquerque on election night, in a conversation “that lasted less than a minute, in which he [Albuquerque] put the question of an agreement on the table.”
“And what I said to him was: ‘No, we don’t have to make appointments, we have to talk, if necessary of course’,” said Nuno Morna, adding that “Doctor Albuquerque decided to make appointments instead of talking”.
“Doctor Albuquerque told me he would call me later. He hasn’t called, I’m not available for conversations at this time. […] There was no availability on the other end to talk to us, why should I be available now?” he asked.
Nuno Morna stressed that he will conduct a “constructive opposition” in Madeira’s Legislative Assembly and that he will approve proposals that comply with the party’s principles and its election manifesto.
“We will always be in favor of everything that has to do with more freedom for the people of Madeira, increasing purchasing power, lowering taxes, solving waiting lists, voting on mobility – and I could read the entire program here announce – and everything that has to do with it. this, wherever it comes from,” he emphasized.
When asked if he agrees that the Representative of the Republic for the Region nominates Miguel Albuquerque to form a government, Nuno Morna said yes, since he was the one who won the elections.
“I wouldn’t say to nominate Roberto Almada [deputado do BE] sure,” he joked.
The PSD/CDS-PP coalition won the regional legislature on Sunday, but fell one deputy short of an absolute majority, and a parliamentary advocacy deal with the PAN was announced on Tuesday, winning a mandate.
In Sunday’s elections, the PSD/CDS-PP coalition elected 23 deputies, the PS eleven, the JPP five and Chega four, while the CDU (PCP/PEV), BE, PAN and IL each elected one deputy.
On Tuesday, following the announcement that the PSD/CDS-PP coalition has signed a four-year parliamentary advocacy agreement with the PAN, allowing an absolute majority in the regional parliament, IL accused the PSD of choosing “the easier thing.”
In a note signed by the leader of IL, Rui Rocha, and the coordinator of the regional structure, Nuno Morna, the party considered that it is free from “any responsibility” and committed to propose “on a case-by-case basis to judge”. “.
