Sousa Real stressed that his management “has every confidence in Mónica Freitas, in the work she will carry out” and believed that “it would not make any sense” if the elected PAN delegate in Madeira “were accompanied by the current voice, taking into account the entire context that happened.”

Asked about the elected deputy who told journalists on Tuesday that Joaquim Sousa would no longer be the spokesperson of the regional structure and that she would replace him in the position, Inês de Sousa Real devalued and justified it with the “intensity and pressure” of the past period. few days, which were “very difficult” and considered that “no derogatory comments were made by Mónica Freitas”.

Inês de Sousa Real also indicated that it had been decided at national and regional level “by a large majority” to change the PAN list for the regional elections in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, and that “Joaquim Sousa is no longer able to to even present a proposal because the majority of people on the list left it and did not want to be part of Joaquim Sousa’s list in these elections.

Joaquim Sousa took office as spokesperson for the regional political committee PAN in November 2022, following single-list elections. In July this year he was nominated as head of the party’s list for the regional elections in Madeira, but on the eve of submitting his candidacy to the Judicial Court of the District of Madeira, the PAN announced his replacement by Mónica Freitas , which in a statement, the decision with “an incompatibility”.
