The PSD chairman reaffirmed today that he will not form a coalition with the Chega party and that he will only govern if he wins the parliamentary elections.
“I come to win the elections and rule the country and I have already said that I will only rule if I win the elections”Luis Montenegro told journalists in Portimão.
The Social Democratic leader spoke upon arrival at Portimão train station, at the end of a train journey between Tunes, in the municipality of Silves, and Portimão as part of the Sentir Portugal initiative.
Luís Montenegro stated that the PSD must do this if there is no absolute majority “challenge all other parties to respect the will of the people and find instruments in parliament that will allow the government to implement its program, with the exception of Chega”.
“That’s What We’re Going to Do”he emphasized.
However, that is what the chairman of the PSD said “committed to winning the elections, to winning as many votes as possible, so that only the PSD can create conditions for government stability”.
Asked about the positions of some militants and former party leaders, such as former minister Miguel Relvas, in favor of coalitions or agreements with other right-wing political parties for the formation of a possible government, Montenegro said that the PSD has “chosen bodies and adopted strategies”.
“The PSD is a democratic party where people are free to express their views, but we fully and honestly comply with the strategy we have outlined”he emphasized.
The Social Democratic leader said he will present to voters a political project that “mobilizes and corresponds to the majority sentiment of the voters and of those who are frustrated and disappointed by the third political quagmire that the PS has brought to the country” .
