The chairman of the PSD, Luís Montenegro, stated on Tuesday that the party cannot govern alone if “Chega and the PS go hand in hand”.
“If the PSD does not have an absolute majority in parliament, the PSD will try to strengthen its position to achieve this majority, in the certainty that it will not form a coalition with the PS or Chega. If there is still no majority Absolutely, these parties will have to take one of two positions: either give the government conditions for governability, or tear it down,” the PSD leader said on the sidelines of the “The New Economy” conference , organized by CNN Portugal.
Speaking to journalists, Luís Montenegro stated that the PSD alone will not receive conditions of governance “if Chega and the PS go hand in hand.”
The PSD leader also guaranteed that he had no intention of forming a central bloc government.
“With my leadership in the PSD, this will certainly not happen,” he said.
