LIVE – “The Assembly is not the Samaritan”: Le Pen accuses Le Maire of “shopping around” during the budget

The deputies resume this Monday afternoon the examination of the bill of finance and consider the possible restoration of the ISF. Without an absolute majority, the government should use 49.3 for this text to be adopted in the coming days.

In full review of the budget, the mayor says “yes” to “debate” and says “no” to “haggling”

Bruno Le Maire has been the subject of several interventions by deputies who do not appreciate that Bercy chooses the amendments voted in the chamber that will ultimately remain in the budget.

“The debate is yes, the haggling is no. The debate in this chamber is yes. Backyard debates are no”, justified the Minister of Economy.

‘You, the minority, want to impose the law on the majority’: Garrido criticizes the budget debates that ‘are not democratic’

Bruno Le Maire announced this morning that several amendments voted in the chamber will remain in the budget, probably voted by 49.3. Others, although adopted, will not be maintained, such as the tax on superdividends.

“The minority cannot dictate the law to the majority (…). You, the minority, want to set the law by the majority, it is not democratic”, judged the deputy of the LFI, Raquel Garrido.

“It was you who chose 49.3”: questioned, Bruno Le Maire accuses the opposition of “rejecting compromise”

Interrogated by Marine Le Pen and Mathilde Panot, Bruno Le Maire defends himself.

“They rejected the compromise. It was you who opted for 49.3 (…). After the time for debate, the time for decision has arrived”, launched the Minister of Economy in the hemicycle.

Bercy decided on the amendments voted in the chamber to be kept in the budget, probably voted by 49.3.

“The Assembly is not the Samaritan”: Marine Le Pen accuses the Government of “making its market” in the amendments

Marine Le Pen does not appreciate that Bercy decides on the amendments voted by the hemicycle that will remain in the budget, probably voted by 49.3.

“The National Assembly is not the Samaritan. We do not make our market. (…) The amendments are voted if you find them good or bad. This is how democracy works”, advances the patron saint of RN deputies.

“Make the votes of the Assembly”: Panot does not value that the mayor decides on the amendments of the oppositions retained in the budget

Bruno Le Maire announced this morning that several opposition amendments would remain in the budget, likely to be voted on by 49.3 in the next few hours. The maintenance of VAT at 5.5% on masks, which is worn by a socialist deputy, should therefore be integrated into the bill on finances.

“He would like to swindle the votes of the National Assembly in (his) corner, it is unacceptable,” said Mathilde Panot, the head of the LFI deputies during the resumption of the debates this afternoon.

The tax on superdividends, adopted by the deputies of the oppositions and part of the majority votes, will not be withheld.

Budget 2023: the faces of these deputies who scrap in the National Assembly

Since the start of the finance bill on October 10, several elected officials in the Bourbon Palace have spoken loudly in all the seats of the hemicycle. Among them are Jean-René Cazeneuve, the general rapporteur for the budget, the rebel David Guiraud or the LR MP Véronique Louwagie.

We explain the profile of these deputies in our article here.

Budget: new week of debates in the National Assembly, with the threat of 49.3

The deputies resumed this Monday afternoon the examination of the 2023 budget project, while the Government prepares to fire the constitutional weapon of 49.3 during a week that is already socially charged.

Elisabeth Borne has already closed the door on its use very quickly this Sunday night on TF1. Speculation abounds about when she will choose the prime minister.

Wednesday, the theoretical end of the discussions in the hemicycle, could be an option. But the appeal to 49.3 on Tuesday is not unlikely either. The deputies will then see article 5 – on local business taxation – considered very high risk for the majority. However, a call for a strike by the CGT could stop the government.

If you have not followed anything, we explain everything here.
