A remarkable intervention. José Beaurain, deputy of the National Group, spoke this Wednesday in the hemicycle using a text in braille. The far-right elected official is blind. He suffers from congenital glaucoma that caused him to lose his sight in 2008. Elected in the Aisne during the last legislative elections, he became the first blind MP to enter the National Assembly.
On Wednesday, José Beaurain spoke about aid for shared living (AVP). Aid “started up to support the development of shared housing for the elderly and people with disabilities”, he explained. Before continuing: “This device, which appeared in 2021, allows departments to grant any applicant shared housing whose owner has signed an agreement with the department.”
If more than “70 departments have already committed themselves to the development of shared housing”, José Beaurain believes that it is necessary to “go further”. “It is unlikely that 24 departments are not yet committed to the development of shared housing,” said the RN deputy.
“It’s time to act so there are no more blank spots,” urged the far-right elected official. “Throughout the national territory, elderly French people and French people with disabilities must be able to receive help,” he added. His intervention was punctuated by numerous applause in the RN benches.
