Gérald Darmanin wants to ask a “simple question”. “Was there a backyard negotiation? Was there a negotiation of shame between La France insoumise (LFI) and the National Rally (RN),” the Interior Minister intends to question this Thursday on France Inter.
In question: the motion of censure of the New Popular Ecological and Social Union (Nupes) to which the deputies of the RN added their votes last Monday. The anti-Nupes socialists set fire to the gunpowder the following day. François Kalfon, a former councilor for Île-de-France, indicated that the rebels would have “removed any positive mention of immigration” in his text to gather the votes of the extreme right. Several Socialist Party (PS) officials calmly denied this. “Obviously, this is not the case,” repeated Olivier Faure again this Thursday.
“Cynicism” and “disorder”
However, Gérald Darmanin insists at the microphone of France Inter: “Have you negotiated with the National Association so that Marine Le Pen can vote on your motion of censure?” Asks the head of Place Beauvau at the rebels’ home. The president accused the Nupes of having “tabled a motion of censure that has been purposefully modified.” A way to oppose two camps. The one on the left represented in his words by “cynicism” and “disorder.” And his – in which he called for the right to take a seat – that of “order, work, solution, progress.”
“You can not control the votes of the extreme right”
Opposite, the left responds. The socialist Boris Vallaud invited certain ministers to go back in time. He addressed Bruno Le Maire on Twitter recently. “Le 19 février 2015, vous votiez avec Marion Maréchal-Le Pen et Gilbert Collard (alors députés non-inscrits, ndlr) une motion de censure contre… la loi Macron”, rappelé le chef de file des socialistes à l ‘National Assembly. guest of France 2, the rebel Éric Coquerel explained the line of his formation. Asked about the motion of censure that LFI wants to present after the 49.3 triggered by the government on the Social Security budget, he replied:
“If we present a motion of censure, it is to censure the government. As far as I know, the deputies of the Nupes do not have a majority to do so. From there, or we do that for the operetta […] or we do this to say that we no longer want this policy. In these cases, we take all those who want this motion of censure”.
