Nord Stream: Borne ‘doesn’t believe’ Russian accusations against UK

Russia accused “representatives of a British Army unit” of “participating in the planning, logistics and implementation” of the explosions that damaged Russian gas pipelines.

French Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne said on Saturday she gave “no credit” to the words of the Russian military accusing London of involvement in the explosions that damaged Russia’s Nord Stream 1 and 2 gas pipelines in the Baltic Sea in September.

“There is an ongoing investigation and I do not give any credit to what has been announced this morning”, explained the head of the French Government during a press conference on the sidelines of a trip to Lisbon with his Portuguese counterpart Antonio Coast.

London evokes an “invented history”

Russia on Saturday accused “representatives of a British Army unit” of “participating in the planning, logistics and implementation of the terrorist act in the Baltic Sea on September 26 to undermine the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines.”

In response, the British Ministry of Defense denounced Moscow’s “false claims” in order to “divert attention from its disastrous handling of the illegal invasion of Ukraine”. “This fabricated story says more about the disputes within the Russian government than it does about the West,” the British ministry added.
