“It is a manipulation of the extreme left.” Grégoire de Fournas, the RN deputy who made racist comments in the National Assembly, claims that his phrase “go back to Africa” was “kidnapped by rebellious France.”
“It is a controversy that has no place and is totally false,” added the deputy of the National Association. “I’m not going to apologize for something I didn’t do,” he explained on BFMTV.
Most are also outraged.
LFI deputy Carlos Martens Bilongo, who was speaking when Grégoire de Fournas issued this sentence, believes that it was he who was the target of the racist comments. The president of the LFI group in the Assembly Mathilde Panot requests this Thursday the exclusion “for several months” of Grégoire de Fournas for his statements.
Grégoire de Fournas spoke again, denying having spoken about his fellow deputy: “I said that when the deputy from rebel France spoke of the SOS Méditerranée ship that could not dock on European shores, I replied ‘he – the ship – returns to Africa’ .
“It is you who see a black congressman. I see a French deputy, from the Nation, as legitimate as me to sit on these benches, ”he added again in front of the journalists.
The incident also made Élisabeth Borne and the majority react. The Prime Minister warned that “racism has no place in our democracy” while the Renaissance group “will not sit down” in the face of a strong sanction against the RN deputy.
