The discussed article wants to register in the law the government’s commitment made in 2024 to create a diploma in specialized studies in palliative medicine and support care, particularly to improve this sector.
An amendment transported by the macronist deputy Christophe Marion has been adopted with the aim of modifying the name of the diploma adding the mention of “help to die”, causing agitation in the hemicle.
The opponents of helping to die accused the elected officials behind their adoption of “mixing everything” and forcing them to vote against the article as a whole.

The text was rejected by 80 votes against 73. The right and the extreme right were greatly opposed, unlike the left. The deputies of the central block were divided.

Subject to a strong pressure from the deputies, Prime Minister François Bayrou put the work in the profession, writing the bill in two, to leave freedom to deputies to vote for one text but not for the other.
