Some 700 marine soldiers, an active body of the US army, will be deployed in Los Angeles, announced the regional military command on Monday, June 10, marking a new hardening of the federal response to the clashes that occurred in the great Californian city.
The American Military Command for North America (North Command of the United States) said in a statement that it has “activated” some “armed” that will join the military of the National Guard, another body, of reserve that one, already deployed by the US president in the Megapol Californian.
“In view of the increase in threats against federal officials and federal buildings, 700 active armed ones” based in southern California “will be deployed in Los Angeles to help protect federal officials and buildings,” explained a senior US official under the cover of anonymity, correcting their words after having spoken for the first time of 500 soldiers.
“Around 2,100 national guards”
The Regional Military Command indicated that the current operation in Los Angeles, which bears the name of the Task Force 51, “brought together around 2,100 national guards” and “700 active armed.”
All were “trained in de -escalation, multitude management and rules to use force.”
The deployment of active soldiers in the US territory is an exceptional decision, which concerns civil rights defenders.
The governor of California, Gavin Newsom, attacked the deployment of the National Guard and estimated on Monday that the sending of the armed “satisfied the crazy fantasy of a dictatorial president.”
