Presidential 2027: The announcement of a joint left -wing candidacy is unanimous in the Socialist Party

While an alliance of several left games, including the PS, was ratified on Wednesday, the change to win, grouping the allies of Nicolas Mayer-Dossignol, deplores a decision made “without a previous mandate.”

Just two days ago, a call to the solemn of Lucie Castets: “What you have in front of you is a team that (…) will be ready to govern.” These words pronounced this Wednesday, July 2 in Bagneux (Hauts-de-Seine), marked the “oath” of a joint candidacy for the 2027 presidential elections.

Behind this effect, it is above all an alliance game that was created, under the label of the “Popular Front 2027”. On board, personalities ranging from Olivier Faure on the side of the Socialist Party, to François Ruffin (through its permanent movement!), Also including environmentalists, generations and then, the Association of former members of the rebel France.

“A great day for the left and the environmentalists,” said Olivier Faure in front of activists, believing that the “path” was “possible and accessible.” With an admission anyway, the one that the newly created movement had “not a boulevard in front of it.”

A union “without any previous mandate”

Less than 24 hours later, the “common project” faces its first obstacles. The internal opposition to the PS, directed by the mayor of Rouen Nicolas Mayer-Possignol, criticizes the first secretary of the party for having signed the agreement of the “Popular Front 2027” “without any prior mandate of his sovereign bodies (National Council and National Office) in its content,” said a statement from the group “Change to Win”, in X., in X., in X., in X.

Consequently, Olivier Faure opponents ask for a vote in the next national office “on the ratification of this agreement and on the process it contains.” In addition, they remember their “requests that any decision on the method of appointing the presidential candidate provided for in this agreement in December is subject to the vote of socialist activists.”

Through this call for “the unity of the socialists” who consider “necessary” to “prevent the right end from reaching power”, the structure of the Socialist Party seems more than ever divided.

Given this protest, the PS management responded quickly, claiming that “everything that was said is in accordance with what we defended during Congress and that it was the subject of three months of debate.”

LFI or not lfi?

“Both in the framework that remains open to LFI and in the calendar to decide the method of appointing a common candidate from the left to the presidential elections in the middle of the municipal campaign, this agreement does not comply with any guidance text voted in Congress,” you can still read in the press release to “change to win.”

BFMTV-RMC guest at the beginning of June, Olivier Faure still described Jean-Luc Mélenchon as “the worst candidate for the left.” Before remembering his intention of a “common candidate for all this space from Ruffin to Glucksmann.” And if the co -Founder of Public Square has not yet been invited to the Popular Front 2027, François Ruffin, fired from the rebel group in the National Assembly, is part of the signatories, as well as his dissident colleagues Alexis Corbière, Raquel Garrido or even Clémemine Autain.

From there to seeing a LFI integration, nothing is less safe. In a note from his blog published this Thursday, July 3, Jean-Luc Mélenchon approached the idea of a “kiche” primary as Lucie Castets wanted. “This does not interest anyone. Neither the millions of rebel voters trapped by Niguds for this task, nor those who adhere to the Glucksmann line that this equipped with the dream of stealing it,” he said.

To reassure concerns about possible betrayals, the management of the Socialist Party plays appeasement: “It is natural that we have imagined in the decent deadlines of the process that leads to a common candidate”, ensuring that “nothing was done on this issue” during the oath of Wednesday, in Bagneux.
