“I made the decision in June 2024, after our defeat in the legislative elections, to return to political life. I considered that we no longer had the space for the necessary maneuver to act clearly and firmly at the service of the French. I did not change my mind,” he added.

Bruno Maire explained his choice to join the government in X, this Sunday night. “In the exceptional circumstances through which France is happening, we do not hide. Therefore, I accepted the proposal of the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister to direct the Ministry of Armed Forces and Veterans,” he said.
The new Minister of the Armed Forces adds: “I come to serve the French. I come to serve our soldiers. I will do it with the passion and determination that has always guided me in my public commitment, in particular in my functions as an advisor to strategic issues and Secretary of State for European Affairs.”
