The composition of the Sébastien Lecornu government was announced this Sunday, October 5 at the beginning of the night. Most of the ministers were already, in the same positions, in the government of François Bayrou.
Among the few changes, is the arrival of former minister Bruno Le Maire at the head of the Ministry of the Armed Forces. Roland Lescure joins Bercy to become Minister of Economy and Finance.
After having left doubts for several days about the participation of the Republicans in this government, Bruno Retailleau agreed to be renewed to the head of the Interior Ministry.
A change from the Interior Minister
However, this Sunday night denounces a “government that does not reflect the promised rest” of Sébastien Lecornu. He adds that “before the political situation created by this announcement”, he will convene on Monday morning “the strategic committee of the Republicans.”
“This is not only the question of the place of the Republicans in the government, which is problematic, but the balances between the forces of the common base. The hardening around the Renaissance does not seem to correspond to us to the air of the times,” said Bruno Retailleau’s entourage in BFMTV.
“What a circus”
After this position of the Chief of the Republicans, the leader of the rebel Jean-Luc Mélenchon denounced a “circus.”
“What a circus! Barely called, Bruno Retailleau threatens to leave the government! They are the stability and responsibility lessons of Blablabla,” he wrote in X.
