The president of the republic on Wednesday expressed his intention to visit hospital emergency services soon to observe “the evolution of events” at a time when more and more restrictions are registered in the country.
“I intend to go and see the places in the coming days and weeks, as long as it does not endanger health services and the evolution of events”he expected, declaring that he will share, “within ten days to two weeks”the conclusions of what you observe.
Speaking to journalists in Abrantes (Santarém), on the sidelines of a visit to the Museum of Archeology and Art, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa said that he “followed” the evolution of the situation, as this “always, every year, a very difficult time” for emergency services because of the approaching winter, “and this year with three outbreaks at the same time: the classical flu, a new type of virus and the covid-19 virus”🇧🇷
Given the “pressure that exists for hospital emergencies” and the increase in “response problems” in many hospitals across the country, the president of the republic said he wanted to go to the field and see what was going on.
The head of state also thanked health workers for their “responsiveness, on top of so much work in recent years, which they have shown at a difficult time”.
