The mayor of Marco de Canaveses, Cristina Vieira (PS), withdrew the powers delegated to the vice president, Bruno Magalhães, the municipality said.
In a statement from that municipality in the Porto district, it is said that the order “revokes the vice-chairmanship and any representation of the municipality by the councilor”.
“The decision is justified on the grounds of lack of political trust and institutional loyalty”reads the information, which, on the other hand, shows that Councilor Nuno Vítor Diogo Pinto was appointed Vice-President of the Chamber of Marco de Canaveses.
Lusa tried, without success, to listen to councilor Bruno Magalhães.
The PS has led that municipality with an absolute majority since the municipal councils of 2017.
Cristina Vieira, the current leader of the socialist council, and Bruno Magalhães, until recently his number two in the college of mayor and aldermen, have already announced publicly that they will lead the list for the presidency of local PS bodies.
