Chega will propose the creation of a parliamentary committee of inquiry into “the management of TAP and the use of funds” attributed to the company, which will also look into the compensation paid to the former secretary of state.

According to the text of the proposal, released to journalists this Thursday, the Grupo Parlamentar do Chega proposes “the immediate establishment of a parliamentary commission of inquiry, with the aim of overseeing the management of TAP and the use of public funds associated with it. were allocated, namely the payment of bonuses and remuneration to holders of management and board positions in the company”.

The party also wants full clarification, “the contours that led to TAP, a company in financial difficulties and the target of a restructuring process, financed and controlled by the Portuguese state, paying damages of 500 thousand euros”.

In this regard, Chega wants the Assembly of the Republic to investigate “the circumstances of the payment of the said fee” and “whether or not there was knowledge or intervention of the ministries responsible for this matter”.

The Bloco de Esquerda had announced on Tuesday that it will move forward with a proposal for a parliamentary Commission of Inquiry into the public and political scrutiny of TAP’s management, aimed at a full investigation of the situation of this company, but has not yet formalized it initiative in the Assembly of the Republic.

On the same day, Chega’s president, André Ventura, was in favor of the BE initiative, but admitted that his party could come up with a proposal in the same direction, pointing out that the decision would depend on “the universe and the kind of research that BE wants to do”.
