Carla Castro wants a party without “barons and caciques” and with “free members”

The Liberal Initiative (IL) leadership candidate and deputy, Carla Castro, said on Saturday she wants a party in which “the members are free” and will not accept being told “who the president should be”, without ” barons and caciques”. .

In a highly acclaimed speech at the VII National Convention of the Liberal Initiative, Carla Castro ascended the pulpit of the Congress Center in Lisbon to present her list to the executive committee, in defense of a party with “free members”.

“A party where the members are free, where we don’t accept being told who the president should be,” he defended, adding that “in the country, in the party” and in their lives, liberals “are not bosses.” . .

Carla Castro rejected a political force of “barons and caciques” and called for an IL “united within to win without”.

“It is to all, liberals, free people, here together in a party without barons and without caciques that I address today,” he affirmed.

For defenders of “continuity across the board”, Carla Castro warned that “walking is no longer enough”, that the socialist government is “decomposing” and that the IL must “tie its shoes”.

Internally, Carla Castro stressed the need for the party to have “ruthless transparency” and “bulletproof democracy and liberalism”.

“Our internal bodies must be strong and independent, from the executive committee to the jurisdiction, the inspection and the national councils, and then we aim to conquer the country easily,” he assured.

The deputy called for decentralization of the party and shot: “Decentralizing is not walking across the country, it’s giving power, it’s giving decision-making power. And each of our members will be a better mayor than a ‘boy’ or a ‘girl’ from the PS or PSD”.

The ‘number one’ on the party’s Executive Committee’s ‘M’ list, wants an IL “also ambitious with itself, in which every opinion is substantiated” and which rejects “the tyranny that politicians are all equal”.

“Yes, vote for us, because we believe that it is with this list that the president serves the party and not the party that serves the president. For the ability to unite within and win without,” he appealed to the members present in the House.

As for other parties, namely the right, Carla Castro sees a PSD “without sounding board in the real country”.

“And anyone who just waits for power to rise is more likely to take it with their feet than to come to power,” he warned.

Regarding “populist right”, the leader classified Chega as a “bloated and erratic” party, denying that IL is populist.

“We are more than the opposition, we are the alternative, we are a governing party,” he guaranteed.
