Mobilization against the pension reform: the Government demands “respect for the holidays”

The delegated Minister of Tourism, Olivia Grégoire, asked to respect “all the work carried out by the economic actors of the mountain” in response to the strike of the ski lift unions.

A call “to everyone’s responsibility”. The unions have planned several strikes for the next few weeks in protest against the pension reform carried out by the government. Among them, a renewable strike notice for January 31 of the ski lift unions, that is, as the winter holidays approach.

Invited this Tuesday in France Bleu Pays de Savoie, Olivia Grégoire, the delegate minister in charge of Tourism considered that this strike call was “uncomfortable”.

“I call for respect for tourist vacations, but also respect for all the work done by the economic actors of the mountain,” he launched from the Grand Ski show, in Chambéry.

This Tuesday night, invited to the debate on BFMTV pensions, the government spokesman asked “not to penalize the daily life of the French”, whether during their vacations or in their daily lives.

A notice that is “unlimited” in name only

Although “unlimited”, the notice of strike presented this Monday by FO does not mean that the employees of the ski lifts will not return to work at the end of this second national day of mobilization against the pension reform, Eric Becker, general secretary of FO for ski lifts and seasonal workers, told AFP.

“Elevators will run as normal from the next day: we don’t want to further weaken companies that are already in trouble,” he said. “This unlimited notice” is intended, according to him, to respect the legal deadlines to “allow seasonal workers to participate in the next day of mobilization against the pension reform, which must be decided by one day in February.”
