Macron announces that January 25 will officially become the “national day against sexism”

Emmanuel Macron announced on Wednesday that January 25 will now become the “national day against sexism” for a “more equal” society.

“For six years, the collective Together against sexism has organized an event every January 25 to fight against sexism,” recalled the head of state in a tweet.

“For a more egalitarian society and because this fight is everyone’s business, January 25 will now become the national day against sexism,” he added.

The proposal to dedicate a national day to this cause had been made by the Higher Council for Equality (HCE) to the president who accepted it, it was specified in the Élysée.

Emmanuel Macron received on Wednesday the president of HCE, Sylvie Pierre-Brossolette, who gave him her latest report.
